I learned something from my cooperating teacher and from the students almost every day, and being open to this and vulnerable allowed me to grow, adapt, and think on my feet! Having these experiences is the true life of a teacher. With being honest about my mistakes and imperfections, I was able to also form stronger connections with the students.

Compared to when you first started this field experience, do you view the nature of the teacher differently? If so, in what way(s)? My view of the nature of the teacher has changed from when I first started field because I realized that by being in the field you must also be able to keep your cool when things do not always go the way that they were planed.
Field experiences are a required part of the teacher education program except for candidates on a Job Embedded Practitioner (JEP). Students must spend time in schools in classrooms to develop requisite skills for the clinical teaching semester or, in the case of Ready2Teach, year-long residency.
My first teaching experience taught me a lot about what it means to be a teacher and a lot about myself, as a future educator. For example, I always knew that coming up with lesson plans was not easy, so I’m glad that I was able to have this experience to prepare me for it in the future.
During my first field experience at Franciscan University of Steubenville, I had the privilege of observing Andy Long, a social studies teacher at Buckeye Local High School. Mr. Long's great reputation with his students and experience with teaching was extremely useful for me to observe.
